About us
The UCL Division of Psychiatry is within the Faculty of Brain Sciences and a centre of excellence in Mental Health research. Our aim is to contribute to the improvement of mental health through research and education. We address clinical problems in order to achieve benefits for patients and public health, using insights from basic science. We also deliver innovative teaching, relevant to clinical practice, which is informed by our research.
We offer a post working on a ground-breaking trial of a sexual health intervention for people with significant mental health problems who use mental health services (the MoreRESPECT study). This is a group whose sexual and relationship well-being are very frequently overlooked. The MoreRESPECT multicentre trial, following a successful pilot study, aims to tackle this challenge through testing of co-produced intervention.
About the role
The successful postholder will have a Bachelors’ and preferably an MSc degree in which there is a focus on both clinical and research aspects of mental health. They will be organised and self-motivated, with great team-working and interpersonal skills, including communicating with utmost sensitivity about difficult topics. Main tasks will include recruiting trial participants from mental health services and assessing them with a range of clinical and social measures. The postholder will be part of a leading multicentre research team led by Prof Liz Hughes at Edinburgh Napier University, with Prof Sonia Johnson of UCL Division of Psychiatry as London lead.
Appointment details:
- The post is graded on the non-clinical research staff Pay Scale Grade 6B, the annual salary for which ranges from £35,702 to £37,548 (including London Allowance).
- The appointment is available from 1st July 2023 and is funded for 1 year in the first instance.
- Any offer of employment will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
About you
The postholder will publicise the MoreRESPECT study, work with clinicians and Trust research teams to recruit, and obtained informed consent from interested participants. They will carry out baseline and follow-up assessments, and will participate in training and a variety of research activities across the multicentre cross-disciplinary team working on the study.
