Rehabilitation Officer

Contract: Permanent
Salary: £30,151 - £33,820 per annum (Grade 6)
Hours: 36.66 per week
Based: The Link Centre, 140 Union Street, Oldham, OL1 1DZ

Role Overview:
- To undertake specialist visual impairment assessments, with the visually impaired person, to identify their needs and aspirations to promote independent living.
- You will work in partnership with service users and carers to produce support plans, taking a strengths based approach; and monitor and review its effectiveness.
- To provide specialist support to other council services including, community integrated clusters, Learning Disability and Autism, Mental Health and hospital discharge.
- To maintain the register for sight impaired and severely sight impaired residents
- Ability to deliver Sensory Awareness Training to a range of professionals and providers
- To identify and take account of community networks, and place based assets which may assist in meeting the needs of individuals and carers referred for an assessment
- Knowledge of the relevant legislation, codes of practice, National Guidelines and Government initiatives connected with service delivery in this field of work
- Knowledge of sensory loss, particularly the impact on physical, emotional, social, psychological and mental health wellbeing
- Ability to advocate for visually impaired people and the organisation to help promote accessible services; equality; social integration and understanding of the impact of sight loss
- Ability to liaise with Equipment provider companies and purchase using best value principles.
