WIRS is committed to data excellence; we collate, analyse, and use our technical expertise to interpret data, which informs regulation, enforcement, and legislation.
You will need good organisational and data management skills, with the ability to prioritise your tasks effectively, manage a varied workload and meet appropriate deadlines. You will be providing support to the unit in delivering regulatory activities and providing direction for our area-based teams, under supervision of subject matter experts. The ability to work in teams and provide excellent customer service is key to these roles.
In the role you will
- Use data and information to help support evidence-based decisions
- Save and share documentation in line with data protection guidelines.
- Support your team and the wider unit to identify and implement improvements.
- Be flexible, enjoy working across different work streams and activities, with different people.
- Provide excellent service to our internal and external customers
- Provide fair and consistent regulation to our customers (with guidance from senior colleagues), acting with integrity
Candidates who achieve the required standard at interview will be held on a reserve list for up to 6 months and may be offered future vacancies as they arise.
Key regimes: Regulatory Waste Returns, Chemical Compliance, Pollution Inventory, Hazardous Waste and Waste Tracking.
Working nationally, our staff are predominantly based Quadrant 2, Sheffield, although some staff work from other locations.
Relevant work experience would be an advantage, however being able to demonstrate the following list of skills will be important:
- Able to work using basic computer applications such as Microsoft excel, word and email
- Ensure data and information is handled correctly and accurately
- Be comfortable working in a virtual team environment
- Deliver work to high quality standards
- Share learning with team members
- Work well as part of a team to achieve common goals.
Effective at organisational tasks and a good communicator, you’ll have a strong customer and partner focus. Achieving results and an ability to work at pace are key skills for this role.
