Sevenscore is a mixed 13 bedded Acute admissions ward. Care is provided on a needs led basis meeting the care for older adults. We are based on the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital site in Thanet. This is one of two wards on the site, and of which we work very closely with. Care is primarily delivered to patients diagnosed with a functional illness and also occasionally people diagnosis with a cognitive impairment
We are due for a full refurbishment and therefore as part of the team you will have a say in the very exciting new development of the environment for the delivery of future care.
We work with a large multidisciplinary team which includes amongst others Psychology, Occupational, Music, drama and Art therapies.
This is a professional role that involves providing 24-hour person-centred care and support to people currently experiencing a decline in their mental health. The role provides an excellent opportunity for a professional to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding in a supportive ward and team environment.
The right person will need to demonstrate a commitment to meeting the needs of all individuals that are experiencing a mental health decline, and valuing their rights is a pre-requisite.
- Providing professional Nursing care, treatment and assessment in a mixed male/female environment.
- Administration of medication, monitoring effects and side-effects, and convey information as part of the MDT.
- Ensuring clear documentation of patient records, including admission and discharge.
- Named nurse for a patient group
- Following relevant Mental Health Act/Dols/Informal Procedures
- Supervisions/Appraisals
- Teaching/Mentoring
- Ensuring Mandatory training updated
- Working as part of Multidisciplinary team
- Liaising with carers/relatives
- Working within NMC registration and guidelines.
- Managing shift and supervising team

We are delighted to announce an excellent and exciting opportunity has arisen for the recruitment of band 5 Registered Mental health Nurses or equivalent . This is an exciting time to join the team for a key role in an ever-expanding Multidisciplinary team. As a key professional, you will be able to demonstrate that you are motivated, flexible, and able to meet the professional challenges that all NHS staff are faced with. This will be a role that have a supportive team wrapped around the professional to help them develop any skills that are required, and will at the same time be a very rewarding, where the client is at the centre of all our interventions. If you are an experienced professional or new to the role this is an opportunity to help shape the Thanet Mental Health inpatient services and develop teams. We offer a very robust preceptorship programme too newly qualified nurse. If you are an experienced Nurse there are many opportunities for further development.
The post holder will work as an active member of the ward team over the 24-hour period. Under the direction of the Ward Manager, the post holder will develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care, as appropriate.
- RNMH/RGN/RNLD or equivalent
- Sound knowledge of current mental health issues and treatments, including psychiatric medication and their side effects, with concurrent knowledge of common physical health issues and treatments and their impact on mental health.
- To liaise with other members of the Multi Professional Team in the planning and participation of patient treatment and the development of care programmes
- To be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills within a multidisciplinary setting
- To have sound knowledge of the principles and processes of the Care Programme Approach and its application to practice
