Job description
If you have experience in managing complex information and possess empathy, we have an exciting opportunity to join an expanding service. Join the General Dental Council and make a positive impact to patient safety, build your career, learn about healthcare regulation and be part of an inclusive and welcoming team.
The main function of the Registration team is to protect patient safety by ensuring overseas dental professionals who wish to work in the UK meet the necessary requirements. As a Registration Caseworker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that only dental professionals who meet our standards in education and training, health, good character, and English language proficiency are admitted to the GDC's register.
In this interesting and varied role, you will analyse complex information on international qualifications, experience, health, and character, and conduct thorough investigations as needed. You will also prepare cases for external advisers, chair assessment panels, and maintain accurate records. The team provides assistance, advice, and support to applicants, stakeholders, and colleagues, while also handling technical correspondence.
Whilst you will be responsible for managing your own caseload, we have a strong emphasis on teamwork. You will train and mentor new team members, participate in projects, and contribute to the team's development.
About you
Successful candidates will have:
- Excellent oral communication and customer service skills with the ability to build empathy and communicate professionally, even in challenging situations.
- Excellent writing and analysis skills to identify key issues and make recommendations supported by strong arguments based on the available information.
- Experience of working under pressure in a busy, demanding, environment using prioritisation and organisational skills when managing competing deadlines.
- Experience of maintaining accurate data, case information and other records.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Our teams work in a hybrid way, with a minimum of two days per week in office for everyone who works full-time. This can be varied for periods of time due to business demands such as a high number of applications being received in your team.
Benefits
To reward you for your hard work and commitment, we offer an attractive benefits package that includes a generous pension and life assurance schemes, 25 days’ annual leave (rising to 28 days after two years’ service) plus bank holidays, cycle to work and gym schemes, season ticket loan, an employee assistance programme, and income protection cover.
