Job description

Senior ALS Tutor
Access Creative College London
Full-time, permanent

About the Role
The London Centre has a growing learner population from a wide variety of backgrounds and needs. To continue the development of a comprehensive and supportive learning environment we are looking to appoint a Senior ALS Tutor, whose role will be to help lead the delivery of an outstanding student experience for our learners with additional support needs.

This position will be based at our new London campus which is going through an evolution, and from September 2023 will be situated at our brand new, purpose-built and designed 19,000 square feet campus on Commercial Road in London’s East End. This campus will be a creative hub for gaming, esports, music, media and computing.

You will be a key member of the centre's learner support team and take responsibility for safeguarding, academic learning support and the management of the day-to-day running of additional learning support interventions.
You will ensure that all learners are made aware of the learning support offered and will assist in the SEND review process for prospective learners. You will contribute to EHCP Annual Review meetings and ensure that the learning progress of learners with SEND is accurately documented. In addition, you will support the induction of learners and staff through the delivery of training in the learning support process, working collaboratively with colleagues to coordinate the gathering of evidence for EAAs.

The successful candidate will ideally have thorough FE knowledge; including, but not limited to - funding frameworks, curriculum and sector developments, as well as Government policies and priorities and be able to demonstrate prior experience in successfully coordinating a team of staff and in managing At Risk learners. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills which will help you to effectively implement and manage the Support timetable and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality ALS, with contact hours for 1 to 1, small group sessions and the delivery of Mental Health and Wellbeing Support (MHWB). You will also, in collaboration with the Assistant Head of Student Support, mathematics and English, provide an active role in helping to manage the ALS budget and in the implementation of ALS-specific Learning Walks and Observations.

You will work with experienced, passionate tutors as well as within a support service provided by our Central Team. Working at Access Creative College means working with learners and staff who are engaged, enthusiastic and passionate about education.

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent professional qualification in a related subject area and maths and English qualifications at level 2 or above. A teaching qualification is desirable but if you don’t have one, we will pay for you to get one and provide you with time to study!

No candidate will meet every single desired qualification. If your experience looks a little different from what we've identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we'd love to learn more about you!
