Job Description
The School District of Clayton is seeking a receptionist for the Administrative Building for the 2023-2024 school year. The Receptionist greets visitors, answers the main telephone lines, responds to inquiries, provides requested information and/or referral to other parties; administers assigned projects; provides clerical support within the building as requested. The District Receptionist must be adaptable to change, possess exceptional communication skills, and utilize problem-solving techniques. The person in this position must be dependable; regular attendance is a requirement.

Report to: Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources
The Successful Candidate Will:
Answers the telephone with the purpose of directing and screening calls, transferring calls, responding to inquiries, or taking messages.
Greets visitors to the building and directs them to the appropriate location.
Gives information in person or by telephone to employees, parents, students and the public using knowledge of District rules, regulations, and procedures.
Evaluates situations for the purpose of taking appropriate action or directing to the appropriate person.
Prepares a variety of standard and special reports for the purpose of documenting activities, providing reference, or conveying information.
Acts as a resource for inquiries regarding meetings and events, providing information such as times, dates, locations and/or directions.
Operates standard office equipment including computer, copier, fax machine, calculator, phone system, etc.
May perform various clerical duties such as bulk mailings, maintaining inventory of supplies, submitting work orders, making copies, etc.
Arrange for coverage of the reception desk when necessary.
Provides clerical support within the building as requested.
Assists with performing background checks for volunteers.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
When a specific assignment has additional or different Essential Function requirements, the differences will be discussed at the time of assignment.
- (Attendance) - Regular attendance is required to provide administrative support to the District.
- (Mobility) - Requires independent travel to work sites within a building.
- (Reading) – Classifies, catalogs, processes and organizes materials.
- (Dexterity) – Uses a computer, copier, fax machine, other standard office equipment.
- (Writing) – Develops information for written reports and correspondence to officials inside and outside the District.
- (Communicating) - Communicates with employees, students, citizens, suppliers, etc.
- (Sight) - Visually obtains information from computer monitor; visually compares labels and descriptive information of materials and equipment to inventories, physical lists, invoices, shipping orders, etc.; edits written documents for spelling, grammar, and sentence construction.
Physical Demands (Strength)
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
Exerts up to 10 pounds of force frequently , and/or
Exerts a negligible amount of force constantly.
Education Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification: None.
Experience: 1 -3 years in similar assignment is required.

Work Calendar: 260 day calendar.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.90 - $21.47 per hour
