Job description
We are looking for an experienced Medical Receptionist/Administrator on a part time basis. You will have excellent customer service skills and a good telephone manner. We are a small friendly team in a fast paced doctors surgery with around 5000 patients.
Previous applicants need not apply. This is a temporary to permanent position on a 6 month contract - students and second jobs will not be considered.
Applicants should be computer literate, be able to work in a busy environment on their own initiative and previous experience of working in a General Practice would be advantageous.
You must be flexible with your hours covering shifts sometimes at short notice on a rota basis. Our core hours are 8am - 6.30pm with a late evening until 8pm every Tuesday and ad hoc Saturdays.
What will you be doing as a Medical Receptionist/Administrator?
- Answering inbound calls from patients in a professional and friendly manner, booking appointments via EMIS and recording all data efficiently
- Registering new patients and completing the necessary administration tasks
- Processing prescription requests
- Scanning documents and coding
- Dealing with patients at the reception desk, booking appointments, providing patients with forms/specimen tubs
- Promoting NHS app to patients to enable them to book appointments, access their medical records online and assisting where necessary
- Action requests for information to be sent/retrieved for Doctors/Nurses/Healthcare professionals and process prescriptions in line with policy
- Ensure premises are kept clean and tidy in line with Health & Safety standards
- Watch for and report any matters affecting safety or security
- The surgery is open from 8am until 6.30pm. You would need to be flexible with your hours to cover opening and closing times, sickness and holidays were necessary. Late evening surgery on Tuesdays 6.30pm to 8pm and Saturdays on ad hoc basis.
We would LOVE to hear from you, if you have the following skills and experience:
- Excellent customer service skills in telephone and face to face being professional at all times is essential
- Previous medical reception experience and knowledge of EMIS system preferred, however, training will be provided.
- Able to prioritise workload and multi task as this is a busy role
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- An understanding of medical terminology
- Notes summarisation experience preferred, however, training will be given
