Reception Assistant, Hotel Indigo, Durham
As a Reception Assistant, you’ll be the first port of call for all our guests that visit the hotel. You will deliver a friendly and efficient service; to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all our guests and ensure they have a great experience. You’ll be attentive to our guests needs from the moment they arrive, make recommendations, and serve accurately and efficiently. All whist bringing your own unique charm and personality.

About us
Located in the heart of the Historic city of Durham, the hotel mixes old with new in our Grade 2 listed building, within easy walking distance of the prime cultural, business and shopping districts. This boutique style hotel includes 83 uniquely designed guest rooms. Our hotel restaurant (Marco Pierre Whites) offers relaxed, simple dining alongside local craft beers and eclectic cocktails, all in the most beautiful surrounding. Our Neighbourhood Coffeeshop offers guests and the public a sanctuary to catch up on emails, read a book or meet friends. Our Council Room gives guests the opportunity to dine privately, run conferences or celebrate their special day with us, holding weddings, meetings and events for up to 60 guests.
What is Key
As Reception Assistant your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting guests checking in/out and processing payments
- Attending to guests needs and queries
- Knowledge of a full guest resolution process
- Accurately communicate to guests via email and online travel agents
- Upselling the hotel and local area
- Coordinating effectively with other departments to ensure minimal impact on guest service
- To follow Brand Standards and promote Brand Loyalty
- To comply with all company policies and procedures
- Focusing on enrolments and guest loyalty scheme
This role can be fast paced at peak times, working with another colleague on the desk at the same time, or sometimes loan working depending on the level of business, therefore it’s important that you can work independently and as part of a team.
You will be fully trained and welcomed to the hotel, and supported throughout your journey, with rewarding development on offer during your journey and training plan.
