Are you on board?

This role will see you support the Engineering team to ensure train service providers achieve the target reliability of the fleet such that Engineering can meet their requirements of delivering a safe, reliable, clean train service for our customers.

This role would suit those who have strong attention to detail and have the ability to be agile in their working practices, moving projects swiftly to meet the current demands and improvement of fleet performance.

Working closely with you line manager you will produce a development plan and identify projects or placements in various locations to expand technical skills across the Engineering fleet team.

This role offers unrivalled opportunity to learn from those in your team. You will support the Reliability Manager in managing the performance growth of the Azuma fleet through data trend analysis, identification of improvements to processes, tasks, materials and modifications. You will become familiar with process such as operation and defect analysis as well as implementation and monitoring of solutions.

What you'll need:

To be our Rail Engineer Apprentice you should have the following competencies and skills:

  • Apprentice engineer with a passion to learn and develop within the railway environment.
  • An advocate of change and desire to improve processes and instructions for the benefit of colleagues, customers and other stakeholders.
  • Sound knowledge of IT packages and ability to learn new systems, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with an attention to detail and a desire to manage and develop processes to improve fleet performance.
