Description
The primary role is to support the clinical work of the Imaging Department by undertaking a variety of patient care related duties including: co-ordination of Ultrasound sessions and assisting the Radiologists in the smooth running of the sessions, assisting the Radiographers in the Fluoroscopy and Cross-Sectional (CT & MRI) departments and assisting both the Radiologists and Radiographers in all areas with minor procedures and cannulation.
In addition, the post holder will be expected to support the administrative work of the department by undertaking routine clerical tasks intrinsic to the efficient delivery of the service. Because of the complex and evolving nature of the Imaging Department this post will involve a varied shift pattern working in partnership with other RDAs to ensure appropriate Clinical Support is given to a variety of specialised Imaging clinics.

What are the Responsibilities of this Radiology Department Assistant role?
- Any other duties as may from time to time be requested by the Imaging Manager.
- Work as part of a team to ensure effective communication and delivery of care.
- Liaise with other departments/wards within the hospital and various external sources in order to provide a quality service to patients and clinicians.
- Promote the work of the department and the hospital by contact with potential users and by ensuring patient satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively with the patient accurately reflecting the nature of the procedure and ensuring valid and informed consent has been obtained where necessary according to departmental policies.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients and their escorts prior to, during and after an examination.
- Participate in mandatory training and actively pursue Continuous Professional Development keeping an up to date personal record.
- To maintain a portfolio within the Induction Pack as a record of courses attended.
