Quality Engineer (Automation)
Salary : £66,861 - £74,290
Halifax – Can also be based in Edinburgh, Manchester or Leeds
Full-time - For many of our office based colleagues, we work in hybrid ways which involves spending at least two days per week or 40% of their time at one of our office sites.
Would you like to work as a Quality Engineer in our centre of excellence? In the Chief Technology Office we drive Engineering Excellence and Efficiency throughout the organisation, through the delivery of industry leading practices, standards tooling, ways of working and learning pathways for our engineers.
Working alongside the Automation Lead, you will help to set the direction & best practice for QE Automation & Frameworks. Experienced in creating test frameworks to aid the testing of complex code to deliver products that are fit for purpose and meet the quality standards that our customers expect.
What will I do?
- Identify shortcomings and suggest improvements to existing processes, systems and procedures, then deliver a plan for a small element of a change management programme with guidance from a project/programme manager.
- Highlights shortcomings and suggests improvements in current IT Security processes, systems and procedures
- Deliver prescribed outcomes for area of responsibility by working within established knowledge management systems.
- Respond to individual and team objectives and invest in improving personal performance by growing own skills and capabilities, coaching others when required.
- Explores issues and/or needs to establish potential causes, related issues and barriers.
- Defines, delivers, and adapts specialized products/services to meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems.
- Delivers prescribed outcomes for a designated area, using risk management systems to ensure the organisation is not exposed to undue risks.
- Delivers prescribed outcomes for area of responsibility by improving and/or working within an established supplier management plan.
- Analyses specified problems and issues to find the best technical solutions.
- Design testing procedures and standards.

What you’ll need

Highly competent in one of the following languages: Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#.

Experienced in creating test frameworks to aid the testing of complex code

Experience in the Software Development Lifecycle and development practise for example GHE & code reviews.

Demonstrate a passion for mentoring and coaching people in a "player-coach" model

Be adaptable including working alongside the other teams within the centre of excellence

Excellent influencing skills and ability to work well with stakeholders
