JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Quality Controller (QC)
Responsible To: QA Manager
Purpose of Post: To be responsible for ensuring the high quality of fruit enters the packhouse and that the finished product is meeting safety, legality and quality requirements of the business customers.

Main Duties – Health and Safety

  • Ensure that all work carried out is completed with the full awareness of you and your colleagues Health and Safety

Main Duties – Food safety and legality requirements

  • Ensure that HHPF product meet safety, legality and quality requirements
  • Liaising with QA Manager or/and QA Assistant Manager any issues regarding product safety, legality and quality

Main Duties – Raw material quality management

  • Liaise with the QA Manager and Harvest Managers all harvest quality issues that may be brought to your attention.
  • Have proactive approach to insure the right quality arrives in the packhouse
  • Complete any reports and maintain all records that will establish all products picked on the farm will meet customer specification
  • Thoroughly check and record the quality of the raw material product arriving from the growers and suppliers, ensuring they meet the required standards
  • Ensure all the products are labelled correctly in order to follow them through the system to allow accurate traceability
  • Communicate all findings of the QC inspection to the appropriate parties
  • Record, maintain and file all inspection making sure all details are correct and information filled out where required
  • Durofel and Perfotec checks

Main Duties – Inspection during packing / Finish product inspection

  • Complete online checks and out loading checks
  • Establish a positive release whereby all orders are checked in accordance with the customer specifications and only then release the fruit for dispatch
  • Communicate all findings of the QC inspection to the appropriate parties
  • Liaising with QA Manager or/and QA Assistant Manager any issues regarding product

Main duties- Stock control and finished product inspection

  • Correct stock control to be maintained to ensure that product meets customer specifications and waste is minimised
  • Have clear picture of the fruit quality in stock and take progressive action to prevent future complains
  • Liaise with the QA Manager any issues regarding product in stock

Main Duties- Labelling

  • Ensure that finished product and raw material is labelled correctly to ensure are legal and customers’ requirements are met

Main Duties- Shelf life

  • Completed daily, shelf life needs to be clear, accurate and up to date to meet the requirements of our customers.
  • Analyse the results of any findings and make sure you inform the QA Manager of the results and/or issues.

Main Duties- Specification, Documentation and Equipment

  • Ensure that correct version of specifications and documents is used
  • Ensure all equipment used is maintained in good state and calibrated in correct intervals
  • Ensure all records are completed and filled in the allocated areas and keep up to date

Main Duties – other duties

  • Understand how each department/site fits into the HHPF structure
  • Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with Health & Safety regulations as given in company Risk Assessments
  • This Job Description is not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake other appropriate duties from time to time

Requirements

  • Flexibility on working hours
  • Previous agricultural experience

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary contract, Temp to perm

Salary: £520.00 per week
