The Role
Hain Daniels are currently recruiting for a Quality Control Raw Materials Officer for Histon. In Histon, we manufacture a host of ambient sweetspreads and jellies for our grocery brands. These includes Hartley's jams and jellies, Gale's honey, Rose's and Robertsons marmalade's.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee compliance of raw materials, finished products, manufacturing processes, manufacturing environment, personnel to current UK food safety standards and retailer codes of practice by following the documented working practices in relation to the role, and to challenge processes which are unfit for purpose.
- Effectively maintain records to ensure QCRM/QA documentation is in an “audit ready” standard at all times.
- Assist with food safety investigations and prevention of food safety risks wherever possible.
- Maintain quality standards within the department and throughout the factory areas.
- Active involvement within the site’s HACCP team.
- Engage in complaint incident investigations and provide information, support, and evidence as required to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the Histon technical team during retailer or regulatory body audits.
- Promote and encourage a positive food safety culture by actively challenging any non-conformances to food safety, quality, or compliance.
- Monitor, endorse and communicate quality, safety, and good manufacturing practices/policies/procedures and assist in compliance and maintenance of these standards.
- Deliver accurate and effective analysis and implementation of root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Evaluating raw material and finished products to ensure compliance to documented specifications, releasing, isolating, or rejecting in accordance with results.
- Audit production paperwork, incoming material documentation to ensure compliance to specifications.
- Implement corrective actions to address identified non-conformances.
- Ensure right first time, rejections, and non-conformances are dealt with in a timely manner in line with agreed key performance indicators.
- Play an active role in ensuring site adherence to BRC and customer code of practice standards.
- Assist and manage the gathering of traceability details for both raw materials and finished goods as and when required.
- Provide technical and technological experience to the site for raw materials and finished product enquires.
- Effectively utilise site information technology to control and manage all aspects of QCRM/QA tasks. M3/QUOR/QADEX/GO-CANVAS/HAMILTION GRANT are essential QCRM/QA daily working tools.
- Support and carry out tasks as directed by the QA/QCRM Supervisor.
- Carry out GMP’s as and when required
- Shelf life testing
- Quality Assurance Officer (Cross training within other technical departments )
What you will need for the role / what it will take:
- Numerate, literate, familiar with Microsoft programs, essential
- Ideally with food science degree , but not essential
- Food safety & HACCP Level 3, but not essential.
- Experience within a food manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
