Job description
As the IT QA Manager you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality and reliability of the bank's software systems, applications, and technology platforms. You will lead a team of QA professionals and work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and business stakeholders, to deliver high-quality solutions that meet regulatory and business requirements. Your role will involve establishing QA strategies, implementing best practices, and driving continuous improvement to enhance the bank's software development lifecycle.
Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince colleagues and stakeholders.
This role includes full management responsibility of a team - management of people, budget and planning performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary and terminations.
The candidate will have the following skills:
Quality Engineering
- Excellent knowledge of software testing techniques and testing tools
- Extensive experience of defining and creating Test strategies, Test plans and Test Scenarios/Scripts
- Extensive experience of Functional and automated testing
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, UDeploy, BitBucket)
- Experience of automation strategies
- Knowledge of industry standard functional Test tools e.g. JIRA
- High development standards for code quality, code review, unit testing, etc.
- Able to define Test Environment strategy and therefore requirements
Business Domain skills
- Understanding of Investment Banking - Essential
- Understanding of Equities Derivatives financial products - Highly advantageous
Management skills
- Manages multiple IT Quality teams or an IT Quality functional area (depending on size of business).
- Manages organizational process change
- Ensures consistency and quality of processes across the organization. Exhibits in-depth understanding of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of these elements in other areas.
- Requires in-depth understanding of how own area integrates within IT Quality and has basic commercial awareness.
- Evaluates subordinates' performance and makes decisions on pay increases, promotions, terminations, etc.
- Responsible for project estimates, task management & balancing prioritization across multiple streams of development
- Responsible for people management, mentoring and career development process for Shanghai team including delivering performance review, training, recruiting.
Soft skills:
- Collaborates with local and global stakeholders like QA team, production support team, environment management team, DBA team, etc. to ensure project stability and productivity.
- Experience working with a global team
- Requires communication and diplomacy skills and an ability to persuade and influence
Demonstratable experience:
- Resolves complex and highly variable issues.
- Analyses trends at an organisational level to improve processes; follows and analyses industry trends.
- Develops and designs standards and procedures; ensures that they are adhered to throughout the software development life cycle.
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
