About the role:
Bloomsbury are looking for an enthusiastic apprentice with a keen interest in starting a career in the publishing industry to join their busy Marketing and Publicity department. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy marketing and publicity team and learn about both disciplines.
The Special Interest Marketing and Publicity teamwork across 15 different non-fiction adult imprints at Bloomsbury including Business, Health & Wellbeing, Nautical, Outdoors, Popular Science, Religion, Sport, and Wildlife – this role would work across all imprints so will cover a wide variety of subjects and different levels of campaigns and carry out tasks across both marketing and publicity disciplines.

Main Responsibilities:
- General admin tasks to assist the M&P team
- Sending review copies to journalists/influencers/third parties
- Creating press releases
- Creating and coordinating engaging social media posts across various subject driven accounts and platforms
- Research tasks including press and social media contacts lists
- Design flyers and assets for marketing campaigns
- Attending weekly meetings
- Collating and circulating press coverage
- Organising and distributing images from illustrated titles for press and marketing use
- Pitching for press coverage
Skills:
- A passion for books and reading
- An interest in social media
- Some office experience is desirable
- An interest in learning about new subjects
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Great attention to detail
- Organised individual with the ability to multi-task and prioritise
- Knowledge of InDesign and/or Photoshop is a benefit but not essential
Entry Requirements:
- You’ll need to attend an online interview with our Talent Team and pass initial assessments in maths and English once you have completed your registration.
- You will need to be within an hours commute to the office location listed at the time of your application.
About the apprenticeship programme:
As a Publishing Assistant Apprentice, you’ll gain exposure to all key parts of the publishing process starting from the initial conception of a book, all the way through to production, sales, marketing, and publicity processes.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll be invited to monthly 3-hour live sessions hosted online in addition to working on your course content via our online learning platform.
To meet the off-the-job requirements for your apprenticeship, you'll also spend a minimum of 6 hours a week within the workplace developing your publishing knowledge, skills, and behaviours listed within your bespoke LDN Training Plan.
