Salary and benefits: £24,720 to £30,900, depending on experience, (pending 7.5 salary increase), annual bonus, attractive pension scheme (Up to 10% company contribution) and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and development opportunities in the Assistant Manager progression plan. Working Hours: 37 hours per week Monday to Friday
Base Location: This role is a flexible hybrid working arrangement and will be based in the Bradford area.
Who are we looking for?
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Project Manager to join our Project Management Community within Capital Engagement. Supporting our Project Manager who remains the delegated authority, you will help deliver projects on behalf of the project Sponsor who remains accountable for ensuring the project meets the performance commitments it is delivering benefits against, whilst remaining affordable.
As our Assistant Project Manager, you will help lead the Collaborative Project Team (CPT) by managing time, cost and quality variables in the definition, implementation and handover/close out phases of the project lifecycle, managing scope within the thresholds agreed with the project Sponsor and escalating proposed changes beyond this to the Sponsor for a decision.
What will you be doing in the role?
- As our Assistant Project Manager, you will develop, implement and monitor document control systems and processes as part of BAU activities, which will require the knowledge and expertise of the systems in use. You will also:
- Concept Phase: Support the Sponsor if requested in the assessment of the most suitable delivery approach/runway for notional solutions
- Definition Phase: Assist with agreeing investigation scope and constraints with all parties and develop contract on this basis
- Manage the CPT in producing a Project Management Plan, ensuring a detailed programme schedule is developed and agreed by the CPT to complete this phase in line with key milestone dates
- Develop and share Project Communication and Engagement Plans in a timely manner
- Help review proposed solution delivery scope for feeding back to the business
- Implementation Phase: Assist with the delivery funding approval process
- Update the Project Management Plan as required, effectively aiding the delivery management of the project
- Escalate any risks that will impact the baseline and critical path of the project
- Handover/Close Out Phase: Help collate the relevant documentation for Project Closeout and facilitate and post project reviews.
Knowledge and Skills Required
Essential:
Our Assistant Project Manager will have basic Project Management skills as well as basic contract and commercial management knowledge. You will also have:
- Good working knowledge of budget management and forecasting
- Strong presentation skills, able to communicate technical concepts effectively across all levels of the business
- Sound influencing and negotiating skills with the ability to make decisions and provide relevant justifications where required.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of water and Wastewater assets
- Experience in using Microsoft Project
- Experience of supporting change, able to influence and drive right culture and behaviours.
