Job description

North Central London Cancer Alliance (NCLCA) is looking for aProject Managerto join our growing team in improving cancer outcomes for the population of North Central London.

NCLCA is a collaboration of NHS and other bodies, hosted by University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We work to promote early diagnosis, optimise pathways, reduce variation, provide personalised support for patients, and build service resilience. Patients and carers are at the heart of what we do.

This is an exciting time to join the Alliance, as we seek to drive forward an ambitious strategy, in collaboration with the newly formed North Central London Integrated Care System.

We work in partnership with multiple NHS providers across primary and secondary care and with local authorities in North Central London (the Boroughs of Camden, Islington, Haringey, Barnet and Enfield).

Programme and Project Managers play a key role in the Alliance team, engaging with clinical, managerial and operational staff in the sector, and overseeing a portfolio of projects. They are responsible for collaboratively working to promote cancer prevention, improve cancer pathways and increase cancer survival across the NCL Integrated Care System.

The post holder will work across both our Prevention, Awareness and Screening (PAS) and our Personalised Cancer Care (PCC) portfolios of work, and is suitable for a job-share.

The post holder will work with colleagues in the Alliance team to deliver on our 2023-2025 plans through and in collaboration with our multiple partners in the NHS and local authorities across North Central London.

The main duties of the Project Manager are:

  • Project management and delivery – To develop and implement project plans, identify and mitigate risk, problem-solve, and track and report on progress
  • Project development – To contribute to innovation and good practice, in the identification and development of new projects
  • Project support – To support Programme Leads and Programme Managers in the delivery of their programmes of work, including but not limited to the planning of meetings and events
  • Communication – To engage with multiple internal and external stakeholders and contribute to the development of communications materials
The Project Manager will work across both the Alliance’s Prevention, Awareness and Screening (PAS) and the Personalised Cancer Care (PCC) portfolios of work. Our PAS strategy has been refreshed, with a host of new projects planned that this role will be instrumental in supporting delivery. We have a robust PCC strategy and delivery plans in place to enable us to meet our objectives to improve patient experience and quality of life. These delivery plans focus on personalised care and support, personalised follow-up, rehabilitation and psychosocial support.

The North Central London Cancer Alliance (NCLCA) is a team of 24 people with expert clinical support and guidance from a further four clinical leads.

We are a diverse, dynamic, cohesive and ambitious team, committed to upholding the UCLH values of kindness, teamwork, safety and improving.

We have received a significant uplift in our annual budget for the next two years, and are growing our team so as to respond to an expanded programme of work.

We are based in an office on Wimpole Street, central London. Hybrid working is the norm, with the expectation that all staff will come into the office at least once a week.
