About You
Do you have a passion for geotechnical engineering and ensuring the safety of disused colliery tips to protect the safety of the general public and the environment ?
Would you enjoy carrying out a key ‘on the ground’ role with the inspection and management of disused colliery tip sites; assessing safety issues, stability, drainage and geotechnical aspects ?

- carrying out a key ‘on the ground’ role in the inspection and management of disused colliery tip sites; assessing safety issues, stability, drainage and geotechnical aspects
- compiling reports and specifying remedial and maintenance works
- supervising contractors and consultants and liaising with statutory bodies and stakeholders to ensure the safety of disused colliery tips in Wales
- supporting colleagues in delivering projects throughout the South Wales region whilst maintaining the flexibility to work across the UK coalfield
- developing your knowledge and skills through work based training and development to become an expert in your field

About The Role
Our tips response team manage sites in England, Scotland and Wales, undertaking inspections, maintenance and management of sites within the ownership of the Coal Authority.
We also provide tip inspection services to third parties in the UK, and since 2020 have been a key partner with Welsh Government, Natural Resources Wales and Welsh Local Authorities, assisting with the implementation of a programme of safety inspections to all disused coal tips in Wales.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals, who enjoy working outdoors in challenging environments and with a passion for public safety and an ambition to develop their geotechnical and civil engineering skills.
