Job description
The Department of Mathematics in the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Imperial College London is internationally renowned and one of the largest in the UK. Applications are invited for the position of Programme Project Manager. You are expected to have the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and varied activities simultaneously across a portfolio of large European Research Council (ERC) and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) grants.
Duties and responsibilities
You will be responsible for the oversight, planning and organisation of all activities and functions across several large ERC and EPSRC Programme grants including research projects Stochastic Transport in Upper Ocean Dynamics (STUORD) and Network Stochastic Processes and Time Series (NeST). You will coordinate and support multi-disciplinary teams, involving external partners from academia and leading industry organisations. You will oversee the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) funding activities and ongoing project management of the successful grant awards. You will coordinate the interaction between the ERC and EPSRC centres that comprise internal academic departments and external research partners.
Essential requirements
The essential requirements for this post are as follows:
- Experience of proposal development and project management, across a range of disciplines
- Previous experience of project management in an academic organisation
- Experience of facilitating workshops and conferences
- Proven experience of stakeholder management, project planning and dissemination
- Experience of translating research and policy requirements into a defined project
- Experience of developing and managing large multi-disciplinary projects, involving external and internal partners
- Previous experience of liaising with external bodies including industry
