Job description

Main Purpose of Role:

· To manage employees within the machine, fabrication and Heavy Weld Department

· Responsible for leading multi-functional production teams, to ensure that key targets are achieved in relation to quality, cost, efficiency, and customer expectation

· Ensure Health & Safety procedures are adhered to, that a safety-first culture is embedded and respected

· Ensure Quality procedures are adhered to, that continuous improvement and a right first time better every time mentality is encouraged

· Ensure the team always maintain a clean, tidy and organised working environment and leading by example

· Liaise with other Supervisors

· Support in team progression and training. Carry out appraisal, mentoring, training, and disciplinary policy. Lead by example

Key Tasks:

· To lead and manage the team

· Ensure the schedule is adhered to and any issues investigated and reported

· Ensure safety of individuals and area

· Investigate Health & Safety incidents/accidents and report findings in a timely manner

· Ensure resources are in place to achieve set on time in full targets

· Report critical issues and faults to Production Manager

· Develop continuous improvement

· Monitor quality and implement and report or suggest corrective action

· Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are adhered to

· Identify and implement cost reduction projects

· Deliver regular team briefings

· Investigate performance/conduct issues and report findings as needed

· Provide support to Team Leaders and the Management team, and provide cover where necessary

· Ensuring all persons follow job specification

· Ensure Team carry out Return to Work (RTW) interviews, review and highlight concerns

· Support recruitment of new starters such as interviews and walkarounds and undertake inductions for new starters

· Undertake performance reviews

· Participate in production meetings

· Ensure set KPIs are monitored, communicated, and achieved

· Report amount of downtime and cause

· Report absence

Key Requirements for Role:

· Excellent understanding of Manufacturing processes

· Ideally 2 years or more within a Supervisor or management role

· Health & Safety in a manufacturing setting

· Excellent written and verbal communication

· Problem solving and making decisions

· Managing conflict

· Basic planning and organisational skills

· Leadership skills

· Continuous learning and development

· Attention to detail

· Ability to keep team driven through busy and challenging times

Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

· IOSH certification

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From £34,000.00 per year
