Leeds Museums & Galleries is recruiting to the role of Assistant Curator, Fine Art based at Leeds Art Gallery. The Assistant Curator will bring a developing specialism in works on paper.
Leeds Museums and Galleries holds one of the finest collections of prints and drawings in Britain and is particularly strong in the area of English watercolours. The collection includes around 3,000 drawings and watercolours and around 2,000 prints all of which form part of the Designated Fine Art collection.
The post will co-ordinate the Picture Library, an art lending scheme open to residents and businesses of Yorkshire. More broadly the post responds to enquiries, works with engagement colleagues, contributes to public programmes, will have opportunities to work on displays and undertakes collections management work, including documentation. The post is both part of the Leeds Art Gallery team and the wider Leeds Museums & Galleries Collections & Programmes team.
Leeds Art Gallery which is one of the nine venues operated by Leeds Museums & Galleries, part of Leeds City Council and is the city's flagship visual arts venue. Leeds Museums & Galleries is one of the largest local authority-run museum services in England, with some of the most significant multi-disciplinary collections in the UK and is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.
