Riva Foods is a dynamic, fast-paced food production factory specialising in garlic breads and garlic spreads, based on Sutton Fields, Hull. We have a factory team of around 50 people including Team Leaders, Machine Operators and Production Operatives.
We are looking to recruit a full-time Production Supervisor to join our team. This is a new role introduced to match the ambitious growth plans for the business. The Production Supervisor will report into the Production Manager and will be responsible for all key activities in the production area, including the mixing department, four production lines, and the Low-Risk packing area.
The hours of work will be 7:00 – 16:30 Monday to Friday. No weekend work will be required however there may be a requirement to work additional hours during busy periods.
The ideal candidate would be someone who has previous experience working as a Production Supervisor or Team Leader in a food factory. We are looking for a talented and passionate leader with experience managing teams efficiently and organising staff to ensure the best possible production output whilst continuously monitoring quality processes. The production manager will also deputise for the Production Manager in his absence.
Organising and assisting with training identification and implementation will be a major part of the role, so any experience with factory-based training would be advantageous.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment and will require great attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure. Excellent communication skills will be essential as the successful candidate will be expected to communicate with operatives on the factory floor, team leaders and the senior leadership team.
Main responsibilities:
- To lead and motivate the five factory team leaders and their teams.
- Supervising the Garlic Slice/Baguette line, Mixing room, Portion Line, Flexi-Pak Line, and the packing lines.
- Ensure production targets and deadlines are achieved.
- To aid with training of production staff and team leaders.
- Liaise with the Logistics Department for stock requirements/packing.
- Liaise with the Production Manager for staffing requirements.
- Liaise with HR on any personnel matters.
- Measure and improve factory efficiency.
- Monitor and control factory labour costs.
- Work with team leaders to minimise material usage variances.
- Liaise closely with the technical department to achieve compliance and conformance and to achieve GMP targets.
Summary of duties:
- Staff are informed of daily targets before commencing production and updated hourly.
- Ensure that all staff are trained to carry out their role in line with the company quality standards.
- Train and monitor processes and follow recipe work sheets.
- To be part of the HACCP team.
- Ensure that the General Machine Inspection Procedure is carried out correctly.
- Ensure that the line is running efficiently, carrying out safety checks prior to the line starting.
- Check that the correct information is being used on the packaging.
