Business Unit Support Lead (Pharmaceuticals)
Role: Full-time, Permanent Contract
Shift Pattern: Triple Shift
Location: Fawdon, Newcastle upon Tyne
Salary: Circa. £38k (including shift allowance) + bonus + benefits
Shift Patterns: Monday – Friday (08:00 – 16:30) + night shift every 1 in 5 weeks
The Role:
Due to ongoing company growth, we’re seeking a proactive and logical Business Unit Support Lead to join our Production team, to oversee the smooth running of our production lines and ensure best practise across the Business Unit in accordance with company procedures, EHS, Quality and Regulatory standards and GMP requirements. Working across the Business Unit, you’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of your functional areas, including a good technical skillset across all relevant machinery and systems. With a strong quality, safety and compliance mindset, you’ll monitor production to ensure all products are processed and checked correctly (per company procedures and compliance requirements), and that all manufacturing and packing materials are ready and available to ensure efficient processing. You will manage a portfolio of continuous improvement projects including CAPA / CR Management, taking ownership of deviations, making sure they’re investigated thoroughly to root cause and working collaboratively with other departments to troubleshoot the more complex issues, whilst minimising downtime.
In addition, you’ll represent your department at site meetings, support in risk assessments as the departments Safety Risk Assessor and cover the manufacturing shift leaders when required.
The Person:
· Experience in a similar role within a highly regulated, GMP or clean room manufacturing environment (e.g. food, pharma, chemical, FMCG).
· Good level of technical expertise / aptitude – able to learn and understand new machinery or systems quickly.
· A good understanding and/or desire to advance knowledge of CI methodology.
· Strong EHS and compliance mindset, with a focus on driving continuous improvement.
· Can identify where improvements can be made and is able to communicate this clearly. Ability to challenge existing processes.
· Good time management skills with a good eye for detail – able to manage your own workload, even in a fast-paced and changeable environment to meet targets.
· Excellent communication skills – happy relating to people of all levels of authority and navigating cultural differences to get the best from people.
· Good written, numerical and IT abilities.
· Higher education or degree level qualifications in a science or engineering subject would be beneficial for this role, but not essential.
