Position Overview
The UX/UI Designer is responsible for delivering the design of User Experience and User Interfaces for Cover-More Europe’s digital assets, including websites, mobile applications and other interfaces. There will be a particular focus on delivering first class user experiences across all technology via a rolling process of analysis and optimisation. The UX/UI Designer will ensure that all websites are fully responsive and are optimised for the different technologies used by our consumers and will build compelling online journeys which will reduce customer pain-points and improve conversion rates.
The UX/UI Designer will design with usability in mind, but will also ensure that there is a focus on the technical aspects of website design which affect search engine visibility (SEO).
The UX/UI Designer will need to possess, (or develop) an understanding of the regulatory requirements which may constrain design and ensure that this is catered for in all creative journeys, ads and other creative output.
This is a technical design role and the position acts as an internal consultant, researching and perpetuating best practise design principles for online User Experience and User Interfaces. They will also work to gain insights from other experts within the wider business, such as SEO experts, the IT department, Customer Service and Product to develop a broad understanding of our products and business requirements.
The UX/ UI Designer will take a data driven approach to optimisation and journey design by creating reports, conducting research and multi-variant tests to inform design and drive incremental improvements. They will also have a strong working knowledge of website tracking, including event creation, data layer ingestion and behaviour mapping.
The successful candidate will have several years’ experience with a demonstrable track record of designing for a digital environment with a particular focus on User Experience, User Interfaces, Responsive Design and high converting e-commerce websites
Qualifications and Training
Experience as a UX/UI Designer or similar role
Portfolio of completed design projects
Hand-on knowledge of design tools, preferably Figma
Experience with image editing software, like Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator preferrable but not essential
Experience with using software solutions such as In Vision, Hotjar, VWO, Google Analytics and Tag Manager
Strong aesthetic skills with the ability to combine various colours, fonts, and layouts
Attention to visual details
Ability to meet deadlines and collaborate with a team
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
To be successful in this role you will need to:
End-to-end management of the in-house UX/UI design function
Designing sample page layouts, wireframes and design options
Creating the full UI kit for signed-off designs
Maintaining change logs on design iterations, to avoid duplication of effort or accidental roll-back
Designing graphics, animations and other digital assets
Creating and editing digital images
Creating online display adverts, such as banners, MPUs, cinemagraphics
Testing, debugging and troubleshooting
Maintaining and developing brand guidelines
Coding, using a variety of software
Liaising with developers to understand technical limitations of other systems and their impact on front end design.
Liaising with colleagues in marketing / compliance / IT / customer service to understand the full range of requirements to incorporate into new website designs.
Allocating the appropriate time and resource to projects, based on their deadlines, scope and scale.
Delivering on time within a project managed environment
Deploying and utilising usability tools, such as Hotjar, Optimize, Analytics to generate data which can be used to inform design.
Compiling, organising and analysing quantitative and qualitative data to drive design decisions
Work with IT to ensure back-end processes to and from the websites transition smoothly
Create timeframes and work schedule to meet deadlines
Future supervision of junior UX/UI/Design resource
Creation of Lo-Fi and Hi-Fi application prototypes
