Job description

HEINEKEN Technical Operator 2.5 Year Apprenticeships – MANCHESTER

Do you have a family member or a friend who is not sure how to get a foot in the door working in a Production Technical Operator role, and you have a thirst to continue learning – AND earn money while you do so? Well, we think we’ve got some great opportunities for you based at HEINEKEN's Manchester Brewery.

Salary and package: £19,698 first-year salary & award-winning double matched pension plus a fantastic benefits package including all accomodation costs paid for and a food allowance when you're studying.

All of our apprenticeships start on the 1st September 2023. Applicants must be 18 years old or older on or before the start date.

A bit about the role:
You’ll work towards a Level 3 Food and Drink Technical Operator Apprenticeship standard and will complete a Level 3 Diploma in Food and Drink Operations as part of your apprenticeship. Your apprenticeship will involve both block release study (3 x 1 week/year) at the University of Lincoln and onsite training over 30 months. This will provide you with technical and practical knowledge and skills of process safety, quality operation, and principles of equipment maintenance as well as experience using continuous improvement tools. Your role will involve ensuring colleague safety, operating process equipment, maintaining product quality, equipment maintenance, data analysis, and continuous improvement.

Our aim is that you’ll learn from and work within our Production and Support teams (either Packaging or Brewing) throughout your apprenticeship. You’ll spend your time as part of the operations team, learning and putting your technical knowledge into practice by developing towards becoming a Technical Operator (this will include most of your time being on shift and learning from our experienced colleagues).

If you show raw talent and a passion for this type of job then you’ll have the opportunity to take up a role as a Technical Operator within our Production team. Our expectations are that this is the start of an exciting and rewarding journey, where moving into Shift Management and beyond could be within your reach. Due to the technical elements involved in the learning, we ask that all applicants must have 5 GSCE’s all at Level 4 or equivalent – including Maths and English.

What do our current apprentices think? We’ve asked a few of them!
What’s it been like being on the programme?
“Each day brings its new set of challenges, which keep this job very exciting; in terms of all previous employment I have had, I never looked forward to going to work; but this job is different, the people and the atmosphere make coming to work incredibly rewarding.”

Why should someone else choose this programme?
Go for it “if you want to be part of a workforce that brings together a family atmosphere and an enjoyable workplace whilst contributing meaningfully to the community and the global cider network.”

Why choose us?
“It is a great industry to get into! Being a Technical Operator also offers you a lot of skills, which will help if you want to move into different areas of business, such as production, packaging, and logistics.”

It’s up to you to take the next step… why not apply now and see where your passion takes you?
