We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, dedicated and highly motivated person to join our very friendly team delivering high quality healthcare at our busy surgery of 24,000 patients, in the centre of Hove. We are situated in a purpose built, award winning conversion from a church to a modern health centre
The successful candidate will be qualified to NVQ Level 2 but it would be ideal if you have NVQ Level 3 in General Healthcare Support.
You must be reliable and personable and work well within a team with demonstrable organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise an interesting and varied workload.
Working under the direct supervision of the Lead Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Duties
· Dressings – new
· Dressings - ongoing
· Compression
· Phlebotomy
· NHS Health Checks
· Smoking Cessation
· Simple injection (B12 / flu / pneumo)
· ECG's
· Suture removal
· BP review
· 24 hour BP fitting
· Ear Syringing
· Assisting with Contraceptive Implant Removals
· Chaperoning duties
· Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
· Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
· Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
· Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
· Clearing, preparing and re-stocking consulting rooms
· Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
· Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients’ health and well-being
· Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
· Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being

We are recruiting for 37.5 hours per week, typically worked Monday to Friday but the ability to offer flexibility and cover for sickness and holidays is essential

Salary: £10.00-£12.00 per hour
