Job Title: Principal Scientist: Antibody Discovery

A bit about the role:
LifeArc have a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Scientist to lead a team of antibody discovery scientists at LifeArc’s laboratory based at the Francis Crick Institute in London where we have already established our antibody discovery platform using transgenic mice immunisations and single B-cell sorting capabilities. You will use your experience and expertise in antibody discovery and pre-clinical development to drive the successful delivery of antibody therapeutics for patient impact.
You will be expected to lead the scientific rationale of one or more projects or lead across multiple projects supporting LifeArc’s 2030 strategy. You will play a key role in establishing and enhancing stakeholder engagement with the scientific community at the Francis Crick Institute.
You will also work collaboratively with colleagues across our Stevenage site and will benefit from visiting this site to support the biologics platform and develop excellent working relationships with the teams.
About you:
Education & experience required:
A track record of leading small teams (up to 4 people) and an experienced line manager
Experience in coaching and mentoring others
Experience in technical leadership of multidisciplinary projects through to delivery
Significant scientific project experience related to biologics discovery
A track record of leading projects or large components of projects that demonstrate the creation of novel solutions to complex problems
Previous experience as a home Office project license holder or deputising for a project license holder
Theoretical and practical scientific knowledge and expertise/experience typical of a Masters Degree or PhD or equivalent practical work experience in discipline with a track record of impactful contributions.
Skills & abilities:
Substantial depth of understanding of biologics drug development
In-depth knowledge and understanding of Antibody Discovery including, in vivo sciences, single cell sorting using FACS and Beacon Technology
A track record of scientific achievement within a drug discovery environment across different disease areas
Experience of delivering clinical candidate antibodies and data packages to enable partnering
Comfortable with ambiguity and resilience in the face of unfavourable outcomes.
Attention to detail.
Intellectual curiosity and ability to apply knowledge/experience to work within areas outside of owns immediate expertise
Critical and analytical thinker, strong problem solver.
Organised and meticulous.
Detail orientated and accurate.
Ability to work well with others.
Ability to accurately follow directions.
