Pre-Construction Manager
Scotland
An opportunity has arisen for a Pre-Construction Manager to join the team at Morrison Construction – Environment.
Our Environment Business provides ‘source to sea’ asset delivery capability across the UK and Scotland working on both Frameworks and Standalone projects. Since AMP3 we have delivered more than £2bn assets for clients such as Yorkshire Water, United Utilities, Anglian Water, Thames Water, Southern Water, Welsh Water and Scottish Water. As an established player in the market this a great opportunity to join the team at a time of transformation as we shape ourselves to be fit for delivery in a future digital world.
Ideally, you will based in or around the Central Belt and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.
What you will be doing:
- Analyse Tender documents and resource and manage a suitable bid team to deliver the bids.
- Development of the bid win strategy to maximise chances of winning at commercial sustainable rates
- Ensure all bids taken to finalisation have a clear profit enhancement strategy.
- Development of bid win themes that align with the aspirations of the client
- Support construction management to achieve their continuous improvement goal at all levels across the bid.
- Plan, co-ordinate, maintain and develop staff levels to effectively undertake current and prospective workloads.
- Provide operational teams with clearly defined bid responsibilities.
- Support construction management to achieve their continuous improvement goal at all levels across the bid.
- Arrange and lead tender review meetings and report to the Head of Preconstruction on progress.
- Assist construction management (following award) to establish contacts with client staff and attend pre-commencement meetings.
- Manage direct staff within the Pre contract bid teams as required.
- Plan, co-ordinate, maintain and develop staff levels to effectively undertake current and prospective workloads.
- Provide operational teams with clearly defined bid responsibilities.
- Ensure RODs are fully aware of any discrepancies in the PMO data used to manage the preconstruction process.
- Provide input to enhance tender opportunities and develop effective communication with Pre-Construction process.
- Ensure continuing feedback on contractual/commercial developments, outlining positive and negative issues identified during delivery, with a key focus upon risk management.
- Assist with initial procurement planning and strategy, optimising the approach towards risk management.
- Ensure all subcontractors used in the bid process are registered on Builders Profile or being progressed onto the system.
- Actively participate in the business planning process entailing regular performance reviews and monitoring targets.
- Manage the bid approval process in line with the agreed governance.
- Presentation of bid as part of company governance to directors
- Chair bid team meetings
- Submission of bids on time and to the required quality
- Ensure all bids are being progressed fully in line with the GT and Clients Carbon Reduction Plans
- Maintaining Sales Pipeline and Tender programme forecast to ensure effective resource management.
- Responsible for ensuring site specifics have been identified and included within bids and included with agreement of the client.
- Ensure all tender and submission documentation is uploaded to Viewpoint in accordance with the Information Management Plan with specific outputs loaded onto teams where appropriate.
- Ensure internal GT cross trading opportunities are maximised on every bid.
