Wedlake Bell are recruiting a Paralegal to join our highly-regarded Corporate team on a 12 month fixed-term contract.
Our Corporate team advise on a broad spectrum of leading matters, advising on M&A and Private Equity, through to offering a range of company services. Our clients range from start-ups and advising entrepreneurs, through to large public and international organisations.
Paralegals in the Corporate team provide general support to Partners and fee-earners, from ongoing Companies House administration, to providing support on major transactions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a law graduate or future trainee solicitor to gain outstanding experience in a truly varied practice.
Key role duties:
For the Firm's clients:
- dealing with all documentation and correspondence in relation to company secretarial matters. This includes submitting documents to Companies House wherever appropriate and in accordance with the relevant timescales in order to effect company registrations or changes;
- incorporating new companies using online software as well as making paper applications;
- monitoring changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment and suggesting appropriate action to the Head of Corporate;
- liaising with external regulators and advisers such as lawyers and auditors;
- preparing minutes of company meetings and simple ancillary documents;
- undertaking company due diligence exercises.
For the Firm:
- Ensuring that the Firm's subsidiary companies and Wedlake Bell LLP remain appropriately registered and updated with Companies House at all times;
General:
- Covering any other appropriate tasks for the Corporate team or the Firm.
Attributes:
- Ideally a relevant legal qualification - law degree, or post-graduate qualification in a related field
- Prior experience in a law firm would be advantageous but not essential
- Excellent communication skills – must be able to interact and communicate effectively across all levels of seniority and on both an internal and external basis
- Able to work well under pressure and in keeping with deadlines
- Must have excellent attention to detail
- Strong IT, organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
