Job description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated social work practitioner to join our team as a Practice Manager for the Disabled Children and Young People Team (DCYPT). As a Practice Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the day-to-day management of the DCYPT and ensuring that children and families in York receive the right support at the right time.


Key Responsibilities:


Team Management: You will coordinate, manage, and support a team of practitioners, including Child and Family Support Practitioners (CFSP), ASYEs and other support roles within Children's Social Care. The primary focus of your role will be operational team management, providing guidance, supervision, and support to team members.


Consultation and Supervision: You will offer consultation and supervision to a diverse range of professionals working with children and their families. Your expertise and guidance will be instrumental in ensuring the best possible outcomes for the children we serve.


Collaborative Work: Working closely with social workers and child and family support practitioners on the team, you will provide support and collaboration to enhance their practice and ensure effective service delivery.


Service Development: You will actively contribute to the development of services and support for families and children with disabilities in York.


Case Accountability: As a Practice Manager, you will be accountable for the cases managed by team members and other responsibilities within the team. Your meticulous oversight will ensure that children and families with complex and intensive needs receive appropriate services and support.


Requirements:


A qualified and experienced social work practitioner with a proven track record in social work practice, ideally within the field of disability and children's services.

Previous desired experience in team management, providing supervision, support, and guidance to social work professionals.

A strong understanding of safeguarding principles and legislation relevant to children and young people with disabilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with professionals, families, and external partners.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple cases and priorities effectively.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.


Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
