Job description

Some careers open more doors than others.

If you’re looking for a career that will unlock new opportunities, join HSBC and experience the possibilities. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

Risk & Compliance Transformation (CT) ensures effective and efficient definition, planning, management and execution of global change programmes related to financial crime risk, supporting the business teams and HSBC to meet its regulatory commitments and covers key areas such as money laundering, sanctions and anti-bribery and corruption.

The Portfolio Services Manager is expected to exercise independent initiative in proactively overcoming obstacles to success, relying on general direction-setting from the Head of Portfolio Management Services as well as feedback from various stakeholders.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Portfolio Services Manager.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with programme leads within each portfolio to ensure Group Transformation standard programme governance and reporting are in place and portfolio and programme costs and benefits tracked are in line with FIN guidance;
  • Have the ability to foresee any future changes and how this can effect Transformation programmes with a view of escalating such changes in a timely manner;
  • Escalate bottom up demand for the portfolio from Regions/Priority Markets to the Heads of Transformation/Head of central PMO, and Senior Portfolio Services Manager (e.g. Programme/Project description, benefits, timeline, resource requirements);
  • Actively look at concentration risk and how this can effectively be mitigated;
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests from the Heads of Transformation/Heads of Management to support critical decision making (e.g. one-off benchmarking analysis and board papers).
Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Evidence of confidently operating at an Executive level;
  • Experience and background in portfolio work gained from a change management background;
  • Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders and business sponsors;
  • Proven ability to facilitate effective portfolio management, with a strong understanding of risk and issue management, financial management, programme and portfolio planning, tracking and monitoring performance);
  • Strong understanding, analysis and interpreting skills with experience working with financial and non-financial information.

The base location for this role is Birmingham/Sheffield and Hybrid.

You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.

HSBC is committed to being an inclusive employer and providing an inclusive and accessible recruitment process for all. We will provide reasonable adjustments to remove any disadvantage to you being considered for this role. We are proud members of the Disability Confident Scheme, and will offer an interview to disabled candidates who meet the minimum criteria for the role.
