Job description
We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager.
The role will require someone who has the required hands-on Transport experience in a management position and understands all the relevant sections of the industry.
We're a reputable transport operation in West Lancashire seeking an experienced Transport Manager to oversee the smooth and efficient running of our transport operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of drivers and ensuring that the company is compliant with all compliance & transport legislation and would be required to be named on the Operator Licence as the Transport Manager.
CPC Transport Management qualification required
A proven track record in transport management, ideally with experience in managing a fleet with a mix of vans and trucks.
Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, including drivers' hours regulations and tachograph rules etc.
Familiarity with transport management systems and other relevant technology.
A professional and approachable demeanour, able to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral, at all levels
High personal energy level and commitment
We are looking at a starting package of £38k - £42 pa, along with pension contributions.

Main Tasks/duties and responsibilities
Ensuring that all vehicles are maintained on time in line with the operator licence and relevant systems.
Working with depot management to facilitate the competency, and compliance with all relevant regulations of the driving team.
Developing and implementing policies and procedures for the safe and efficient operation of the company's transport operations
Maintaining accurate records and producing regular reports on transport performance, including KPIs and other metrics
Managing the organisation's O licence and associated compliance
Responding to any road traffic accidents associated to the fleet to ensure they are properly responded to and investigated.
Effective management of insurance claims associated with the fleet.
Ensuring telematics, tracking, and camera equipment is properly utilised and in good working order.
