We are opening a new Children's Day Surgery unit, with the first patient expected in July 2024
We are looking for a dynamic person that is committed to providing play and activities for all children
The post holder is responsible for providing a positive and welcoming environment for children and young people under the care of the Evelina. Working alongside the play specialist team you will provide play and recreational activities for children of all ages to encourage their growth and development in a safe, age-appropriate way where play occurs naturally.
Use your knowledge of child development through to adulthood to promote and encourage the child or young person’s full developmental potential.
- To work flexibly with other Play workers and Play Specialists with the ability to work at times independently/autonomously and without direct supervision being accountable for their own professional actions. Work alongside and supervise Volunteers and Students
- To organise, initiate and supervise a wide range of play activities for individual and groups of children/young people appropriate to the age, ability, medical condition and background of the child and as part of an overall play plan.
- To organise a program of daily play/recreational activities which can be delivered flexibly in the playroom or at the bedside for individual and groups of Children/Young People.
- Be responsible for maintaining play equipment with regard to safety and cross infection ensuring toys and play equipment are cleaned routinely in line with local and department cleaning schedules.
- To work flexibly across play areas as needed.
