When completed, the Plant will operate 24 hours per day on a continuous shift system, 360 days per annum, and will employ approximately 280 people.

About this opportunity
We are now looking for a Platemaker to be based onsite at our new Peterborough Plant. This role will report to the Art and Repro Coordinator.
This is an incredible opportunity to join Crown in a brand new role and become one of our first feet on the ground allowing you to be involved in setting up the Art and Repro function for the Plant and putting best practice in place from day one.
Primary areas of activity and responsibility for Platemaker will include supporting the Art and Repro Coordinator in activities involving Art and Repro expertise. Additionally providing the Production team with the necessary plates linked to production design monitoring and updating the records of the different designs.
This is a day shift Monday – Friday, 9am - 5pm position, based on-site at the Plant five days per week.
Main Responsibilities
- Produce printing material such as plates for the production teams or any printing related document such as technical specifications flat standards etc per Plants printing requirements and timeframes
- Ensure new designs and amendments to existing designs are compatible with printing processes and the machines capabilities
- Maintain the platemaking equipment
- Monitor and report data related to material consumption for the department
- Ensure that plates are checked and are in place for each design
- Ensure locations are checked prior to production and new plates are produced as necessary
- Maintain and archive flat standards
- Comply with quality and safety requirements in terms of workplace housekeeping
Required Education and Qualifications
- Technical schooling in Print or Repro
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Previous work experience of 2 - 5 years in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the printing department
- In depth knowledge of the platemaking processes and maintenance activities for the printing machinery
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong problem solving skills
