Key Responsibilities:
The Menu Planning team oversees the entire menu development process from ideation to implementation. In addition to choosing which items will fly, there is a significant level of organization and project management required to own the menu development life cycle. The Senior Manager will drive the planning, implementation, and management for United’s food and beverage complimentary portfolio, including crew and special meals. This individual is a key decision maker for all complimentary onboard food and beverage for all cabins and routes globally. Food and beverage are key drivers in the customer experience and impact all passengers who fly with us. This role is both challenging and rewarding and requires a strategic and detail-oriented approach. Proactive communication and agile problem-solving skills are required.
- Responsible selecting and handling the successful implementation of all complimentary onboard products
- Works with external partners to develop, track, and implement menu design for Polaris, Domestic First, Premium Transcon, United Express, Economy/International Economy, Hawaii, Latin/Caribbean/Canada
- Develop detailed scope documents outlining current and future state menus; includes specific guidelines and metrics for success including objective, cost, and food and beverage satisfaction impact
- Maintains all documentation pertaining to complimentary menus including, but not limited to menu grids, Chef’s Tips, AirVision, as well as print and digital menu content
- Oversight of administrative functions pertaining to scheduling and menu development and deployment (AirVision)
- Responsible for hosting Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews with key vendor partners
- Documents and tracks action plans as needed through Service Level Agreements
This is a hybrid position and will be in the office 50% of the time in Chicago at Willis Tower. This position also is expected to travel up to 15% of the time (approximately 4 days per month).

Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree (Culinary Arts, Food Service Operations, Hospitality, or related business function) or 4 years of related work experience
- 5+ years' airline catering or culinary experience
- 3+ years' project management experience
- 3+ years' people and team management experience
- 3+ years' vendor management experience
- Deep understanding of measurement and metrics for customer satisfaction in the food and beverage space
- Strong project planning, management, and execution skills with large, complex programs
- Excellent organization skills and detail oriented
- Strong written and verbal skills
