Key Responsibilities:
- Blood Collection: Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws, following established protocols and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label, handle, and transport collected specimens, ensuring accurate identification and maintaining sample integrity.
- Patient Interaction: Interact with patients, explain procedures, address questions, and create a welcoming and reassuring environment.
- Healthcare Support: Assist with various clinical tasks, such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and maintaining patient records.
- Infection Control: Follow strict infection control measures, maintaining a sterile and hygienic environment during procedures.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the healthcare team, including nurses, physicians, and laboratory staff, to ensure seamless patient care.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Phlebotomy Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in venipuncture and capillary blood collection techniques.
- Empathy: Show compassion and understanding when interacting with patients, especially those who may be anxious about blood draws.
- Attention to Detail: Pay meticulous attention to labeling, documentation, and specimen handling.
- Communication: Communicate clearly and effectively with patients and the healthcare team.
- Adaptability: Handle different patient populations, workloads, and healthcare settings.
- Infection Control: Follow strict infection control guidelines to maintain patient safety.
