Job description
Depending on experience and meeting the essential criteria we are offering band 4 and band 5 posts.
In this role, you’ll assist in providing pharmacy specialist services such as in and outpatient dispensing, accuracy checking, patient counselling, ward stock and individual patient dispensed top-ups.
You’ll work alongside Pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Technicians and Assistant Technical Officers, and effectively communicate with medical and nursing staff to ensure timely availability of medicines.
Following departmental, Trust and professional standards and protocols, and without direct supervision you will provide an effective pharmacy service across our four hospitals. This will include dispensing a range of prescriptions, including clinical trials and complex regimens; accuracy checking; patient counselling; data input; and ward-based services such as discharge prescriptions.
This role involves working on weekend, late-night and Bank Holiday rotas.
The band 4 post will be a progression post. Once all in house competencies are met then a band 5 position will be offered.
We will also accept applications for this post for those year 2 Pre Registration Pharmacy Technicians who are due to finish their course this year. We offer a range of hours to suit individual needs, whether this be full time, part time and or flexible working requests.
You must hold a BTEC and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent (or be qualifying imminently) and be registered as a pharmacy technician with the GPhC or registering this year with the GPhC.
You’ll understand and be adaptable at performing a range of work procedures and practices that require underpinning theoretical knowledge of dispensary processes, controlled drugs legislation, and medicines storage and security.
Confident and accurate in the dispensing process and computer software, you’ll be manually dexterous and able to communicate clearly with everyone from healthcare providers to the general public. You’ll be organising your day and workload, so you’ll need to be able to work independently, too.
If you have a mature attitude, a team player, and committed to professional development in a healthcare setting, this could be your next best career move.
