Job description
Are you an experienced project manager with an interest in housing and homelessness in Scotland? Do you want to make a difference to pet owners accessing housing?
We love dogs. That’s why we do whatever we can to make sure every four-legged friend gets the love they deserve. We’ll never put a healthy dog down, so our work is focused on helping dogs in need, supporting owners every step of the walk, and creating a better world for dogs in the future. It’s what we’ve been doing since 1891 and how we’ve grown to become the UK’s leading dog charity, helping 12,000 loyal friends find their forever homes every year.
We’re looking for a Pet-Friendly Housing Lead to design and deliver an innovative new project to increase pet-friendly housing Scotland, with the overall aim of improving the options and outcomes for people and their pets accessing housing in Scotland. You’ll be responsible for the development of a project strategy, identifying the barriers pet owners face when accessing housing, and then develop person centred solutions in response to this, making sure no pet owner and their pet are left behind. You’ll also manage partnerships with housing providers, particularly housing associations and local authorities, ensuring they understand the benefits of accepting pets, and influencing change. You’ll monitor outcomes of the project, regularly reviewing progress and providing update reports, and regionally represent Dogs Trust and the project.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need significant knowledge of the housing and homelessness sector and housing landscape in Scotland, with the ability to speak confidently on these topics in order to influence change. You’ll also need project management experience, with the ability to manage a project from development to delivery, and the ability to flexibly respond to the challenges presented by a new project. This role involves influencing, networking, and campaigning, so it's important that you can confidently communicate to different audiences. An interest in, and commitment to, the work of Dogs Trust is essential.
This role is being offered as a fixed term contract until January 2026.
