Job description
We’re looking for a number of Payroll Specialists to join our Shared Service Centre in Bradford.
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, each of these roles will responsible for the payroll accounting facility across either the UK, Ireland or Global and the accurate and timely processing of all payroll credit transfers for the employees across the business.
What will you be doing?
- Manage the simulation and subsequent processing of the payroll accounting interface in an effective and cost-efficient manner.
- Manage the accurate and punctual processing of all payroll credit transfer and emergency payments for all staff.
- Personally check the payroll 'Trends' and associated reports prior to authorising the production of payment files.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of statutory requirements, including all tax matters, to enable support and advice to be provided on request.
- Ensure that statutory deductions, non-statutory deductions and statutory returns are correctly made and accounted for / produced and despatched in a timely manner.
- Ensure that deductions made on behalf of the employees of the company are accounted for and returns, including payment, are made to the appropriate organisations.
- Support the delivery of projects to improve payroll system, processes and procedures.
- Work to ensure that payroll governance and approvals are adhered to.
- In conjunction with the ES Systems and Portfolio Development team, further develop the Oracle payroll system.
- Ensure all corporate policies, standards and agreed functional processes are adhered to by all staff, rectifying any non-compliance as appropriate.
We tend to look for people with:
- CIPP Foundation Degree in Payroll Management OR equivalent qualification or experience.
- Detailed and practical knowledge of statutory legislation pertinent to Income Tax (PAYE), National Insurance, SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP and Salary sacrifice, Benefits in Kind and Attachment of Earning Orders.
- A thorough understanding of payroll processes and procedures.
- A good understanding of managing payroll in a diverse organisation.
- Proven experience of managing complex, high volume pay processes in an efficient and effective manner.
- Demonstrable experience in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
- Advanced skills on Microsoft Office with experience in using query management tools.
- Strong communication skills with proven experience in working collaboratively across multiple functions.
- A high degree of inter-personal skills is essential, in an environment where conflicting priorities can result in delays and failures, to ensure that no deadlines are ever missed.
