Payables Clerk: We have an exciting new opportunity to become part of the Payables Team at NewsUK working with the Accounts Payable, Contributions and Expenses team. This is a varied, busy role giving you the opportunity to get involved in lots of processes and different areas of the business including lineage and picture payments, invoice processing and auditing employee expense claims.
The Team: You will be part of the Payables team working alongside 12 colleagues. The team is vibrant, exciting and very busy with a mix of both ages and experience. The team processes payments for Suppliers providing goods and services, for Contributors and Talent who provide lineage and pictures for our publications including our Radio and TV broadcasting stations along with auditing all expense claims in Concur to ensure they adhere to News UK’s expense policy.
Your Role: You will be involved in the day to day processing across the Payables Team. Due to the increase in the department's workload you will need to be proactive, able to multitask and provide support across several functions. Once fully trained there will be further opportunity to become involved in the new automated invoice management system VIM, the Expenses function on the Concur system and Finance approving New Contributor records within our onboarding system, Risk Centre.
Day to day you will:
Daily lineage allocation for all publications
Input of Contributor Expenses
Audit and review daily vendor change reports
Input miscellaneous payment requests in a timely manner so they are paid in the weekly payment runs ensuring accuracy at all times
Input of the internal ZL & ZJ journals ensuring accuracy at all times
Validation in OCR of PO and Non PO Invoices
Opening daily post
Checking of any final demands and reminders received from suppliers
Statement reconciliations
Auditing employee expense claims in Concur, checking VAT reclaim and ensuring they adhere to the expenses policy
Reviewing the onboarding of all new Contributors and Talent in Risk Centre, checking required back up is accurate and meets audit requirements
Other ad hoc Payable duties including reports and monitoring shared mailboxes
What we’re looking for from you: Proactive, focused, with a can-do attitude, enthusiasm, a good team player with the ability to work to weekly deadlines but also manage your own workload effectively. Strong communications skills and positive work ethics.
Good excel skills and the ability to learn new systems
Accurate and a good attention to detail
Experience of working in a fast paced environment
We use SAP, VIM, OCR and Concur, previous experience of using these systems would be useful but not essential
Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
