Today, we're recognized as a global leader in entertainment producing The PlayStation family of products and services including PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®VR, PlayStation®Plus, acclaimed PlayStation software titles from PlayStation Studios, and more.

PlayStation also strives to create an inclusive environment that empowers employees and embraces diversity. We welcome and encourage everyone who has a passion and curiosity for innovation, technology, and play to explore our open positions and join our growing global team.

The PlayStation brand falls under Sony Interactive Entertainment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation.

Overview:

PlayStation's Legal & Public Policy department are seeking hard-working Paralegals/Associate Paralegals to support the following areas:

  • Ethics & Compliance
  • Marketing
  • Privacy
  • Product Compliance & Operations

Ethics & Compliance: Supporting all aspects of PlayStation's ethics and compliance programme, including:

  • Developing and managing risk assessments to support legal defences and demonstrate best practice (e.g. in relation to anti-bribery, tax evasion and modern slavery/human trafficking).
  • Reviewing, managing, and advising on due diligence submissions from third party business partners.
  • Developing quarterly reporting and a metrics dashboard on the ethics and compliance programme risks and mitigation measures.
  • Improving supply chain compliance (e.g. developing and providing training to business partners).

Marketing: Working closely with our Marketing team, you'll provide crucial support to our lawyers and the business. Examples of work include:

  • Reviewing PlayStation's marketing material to confirm compliance with applicable consumer protection regulations, advertising codes, company standards and industry standards (such as PEGI Guidelines).
  • Reviewing prize promotion and sales promotion mechanics.
  • Supporting legal drafting - e.g. advertising and influencer agency contracts, brand partnership agreements, promotion terms and conditions.
  • Reviewing and negotiating contracts for PlayStation events and sponsorships.

Product Compliance & Ops: Advising on a broad range of product compliance and operations related matters, with a primary focus on:

  • Researching and advising on matters pertaining to the EU product regulatory framework and key legislation governing PlayStation's range of hardware products.
  • Advising on product and packaging requirements under applicable consumer protection legislation and reviewing and advising on product packaging templates and manuals.
  • Preparing responses to consumer queries relating to our hardware and product warranty.
  • Providing ad hoc support on trade compliance matters across SIE's B2B and B2C supply chains.
  • Familiarity with and knowledge of contract process including reviewing, approving, and arranging for signature.
  • Working on a range of contracts and legal projects including IT, Distribution, Property, Leasing and Environment (although previous experience in these particular areas not necessary).

Privacy: Supporting the Privacy team and the business on all aspects of privacy law, including:

  • Working with internal stakeholders to continuously develop and audit PlayStation's privacy compliance programme, including by creating Data Protection Impact Assessments and Records of Processing Activities, and reviewing and responding to consumer and law enforcement requests.
  • Reviewing privacy terms, including as part of contract negotiations, and updating templates, notices, and signed contracts as required by privacy laws and regulations.
  • Supporting continuous privacy process improvement and simplification efforts, including developing and publishing guidance, self-service resources, and training for the Legal team and the business.

For all these roles, you'll work closely with the business and will be a crucial member of the Legal team and support for our lawyers. You'll operate independently in appropriate matters and build strong relationships with business stakeholders and within the global Legal team. This will be an important element of your success in the role. A good fit will be curious and keen to learn and will love technology and being part of a team. You will be joining a well-respected team that covers a lot of ground supporting PlayStation's business, so these roles have great potential for the right candidate to grow their level of experience, responsibility, and confidence.

  • Ability to collaborate closely with members of the Legal team globally to provide practical and pragmatic feedback for business stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Keeping up-to-speed with developments in the law and regulation relevant to the role and sharing knowhow as appropriate within the global Legal team.
