Job description
The role
We are looking to appoint three legally qualified and two lay panel adjudicators to our panel of adjudicators. You will exercise decision-making powers relating to a broad range of work delegated to adjudicators.
You will be expected to commit around seven to 10 days a year to the role including attendance at three training days.
Panel adjudicators usually sit on a panel with two other adjudicators and review first instance decisions. You may deal with up to five cases on a panel. We require you to work collaboratively and efficiently ensuring that your written decisions are rational, legally compliant, and fair.
You will have significant experience in an environment where judgment and high-level decision-making are required. You will have the ability or experience to make objective and rational decisions following a detailed analysis of complex, technical and often protracted, information. In addition, you will be expected to chair the panels.
The fee for a full day panel is £400 and for a half day panel is £250. This includes preparation, reading, travel, meeting and drafting time. When chairing a panel, a fee of £700 is payable for a full day or £400 for a half day panel. The successful candidates will be engaged through a contract for services.
We particularly welcome applications from individuals who can reflect the diverse mix of consumers and the legal profession and from legally qualified lawyers working in-house or in private practice.
