Role: Oracle Database Administrator
Contracting Authority: Government
Contract Length: 6 months
Location: Remote – occasional visit to Newcastle office but mostly remote
IR35: Inside
Pay Rate: £550 per day
Security Clearance: SC clearance
An exciting opportunity has become available with our prestigious client who is a prominent government department. The client is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to join their welcoming team. As an Oracle Database Administrator, you will be supporting the biggest government department on a digital transformation project in order to make their operations more effective.
The Oracle Database Administrator Role:
- To be an integral part of the compliance team
- To have input in a range of projects across the business
- Be responsible for the set up and upkeep of databases, storage and user accounts as well as carryout debugging/security sweeps and ensuring there are backups where necessary
- Utilise DBA front-end and back-end tools
- Utilise your problem-solving skills to overcome issues hindering business requirements
- To be part of a 24/7 on-call rota (1 in 4 weeks with TOIL given in return)
What the Oracle Database Administrator will need:
- Must hold SC Clearance
- Oracle Certified Professional
- Experience with database backup procedures/recovery systems/SQL
- Experience with programming languages/API/Shell Script
- Ability to visualize algorithmic structures
- Experience in Oracle database management on Linux platforms
- Experience with Agile deliveries/Jira/Kanban
- Experience of DevOps/Ansible/TerraForm/Git.
- Implementing databases in Amazon Web Services/Microsoft Azure/IaaS/PaaS
- Strong knowledge base of the following Oracle technology stack:
Database 12c and 19c
Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Grid Infrastructure 12c and 19c
Data Guard in ASYNC and SYNC modes
GoldenGate replication
