Job description
Africfood – Cambridge Market Operator Hours per week:
35 Working week: Wednesday – Sunday: 9am – 4pm
Location: Cambridge Market Square, Wage: £11 per
Cambridge Market Square Africfood market operator
You will be responsible for the daily running of the market stall which includes food preparation, delivering exceptional customer service and managing food sales.
Duties:
Setting up the market stall in a manner that is ready to trade which includes:
- Putting up the fire-retardant sheets around the stall
- Unfolding the tables and placing them appropriately within the stall
- Ensuring the stall is clean by wiping down and brushing if necessary
- Putting up the Africfood signage around the stall, ensuring good customer visibility
- Unloading the Africfood vehicle of the food and all equipment
Packing down of the market stall
- Cleaning and packing away all materials used
Managing the serving of food which includes:
- Memorising the Africfood menu
- Taking customer orders and preparing food in a prompt and hygienic manner
- Taking cash and card payments
Delivering exceptional customer service
- Being a friendly face to customers
- Dealing with customer queries in a prompt and reasonable manner
- Encouraging repeat customers to leave reviews of the food
- Knowledge of various discounts, e.g. Student discounts, Taste Card discounts
Maintaining clean workstation
- Cleaning pots and kitchen utensils
- Wiping down work tops at the end of each day
- Cleaning the floor
Skills required
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good time management
- Great communication skills
- Exceptional customer service Desirable skills
- Level II Food Hygiene Certificate
(Africfood is willing to sponsor the right candidate if they do not hold this certification)

Education:
- A-Level or equivalent (preferred)
Experience:
- Retail sales: 1 year (preferred)
- customer service: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (preferred)
