Operations Manager - Macdonald Cardrona Hotel - Cardrona, Peebles
Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Spa is a busy 4* property in the heart of the Scottish Borders. We have 99 bedrooms, busy leisure club and spa, as well as restaurant, 3 bars and function capacity for 250 guests.
Macdonald Operations Managers play a vital role in delivering a great guest experience to all our guests. They have a keen eye for detail, an organised approach and a willingness to exceed our guest expectation. Often operating on the front line, they are the real ambassadors of our company, and are committed to consistently delivering high standards.
Role Requirements
Our Operations Managers are hardworking individuals who can work on their own initiative and are key players in our hotel operations teams. In conjunction with the General Manager, our Operations Managers are accountable for the people, product and profit within the hotel. They will have had experience at Head of Department level within a food and beverage establishment and will have a proven track record in delivering customer service excellence in a highly competitive market. They will be able to demonstrate an ability to provide inspirational leadership in the absence of the General Manager, motivating and developing team members to contribute towards the overall success of the business. They will be able to deliver results, maximising profits through sales and yield, whilst exploiting opportunities for growth within the business. This is a senior position in our hotel operations team, assuming overall responsibility for the hotel in the absence of General Manager and you will be required to be flexible in your approach to driving performance in a 24/7 business.
Job Duties:
- To deputise for the General Manager and to assume overall responsibility for the smooth running of the hotel in the absence of the General Manager
- To support with the management of all human resources functions including; recruitment, selection, induction, and training
- To conduct annual team appraisals to create personal development plans to be monitored monthly
- To ensure that all personal files are updated and maintained
- To establish highly motivated teams who take ownership for the achievement of the business objectives within the Hotel
- To maximise individuals’ potential through a positive commitment to training and development and succession planning at all levels
- To identify generic training needs to address business issues, using the resources effectively to solve them
- To champion company values adopting an open and consultative style of management providing a role model for all the team
- To motivate the team to gain commitment to ensure the achievement of the agreed Macdonald Hotels operating standards
- To adopt a consultative and participative style of leadership which encompasses Macdonald Hotels values and inspires employees to make a positive contribution to the business
- To ensure that all reporting systems are adhered to
- To implement and maintain effective mediums of communication to eliminate the use of internal emails and to support daily/weekly/monthly team/department meetings
- To share key information with the team to foster a clear understanding of expectations
- To monitor employee health and wellbeing inclusive of but not limited to; staff uniforms, staff meals, staff welfare
- To take responsibility for the safety and security of all guests, staff and customers
