Healthcare Assistant / Phlebotomist – Outpatients
Cromwell Hospital, Kensington SW5 0TU - 5 mins walk from Earls Court underground, or 7 mins walk from Gloucester Road underground
Fixed Term (12 months)
Salary: £29,514.82
Full time, 37.5 hours
Monday – Friday plus 1 Saturday per month (3 long shifts per week 8:00am-8:00pm)

Role Overview
You’ll be working within our busy outpatient department alongside a Primary Care Nurse and a small team of GP’s to ensure the highest standards of care for our patients and their families.
What you’ll do:
Working as part of the larger outpatient department you will be assisting the GP’s and Primary Care Nurse with day to day outpatient procedures.
Phlebotomy / Venepuncture
Provide high quality physical and psychological Care with Compassion
Confidently and safely Communicate patients care needs
Have the Courage to speak up and Commitment to be a patient advocate
Assist with collection and transportation of specimens
Escort patients for investigations
Prepare and oversee clinic rooms as delegated
Maintain up to date care records and observations charts
Refer patients, relatives and colleagues queries to the appropriate staff
Enter requests on the computer and assist the receptionist and nursing staff with any other clerical duties when required

Who we’re looking for?
A skilled Healthcare Assistant fully competent in phlebotomy/venepuncture with previous experience within a hospital or outpatient environment. You’ll be able to demonstrate your exceptional communication skills with patients, their families and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
NVQ Level 2 (Direct Patient Care) or equivalent/ Care Certificate
Venepuncture skills/Phlebotomy skills
BLS
Experience in primary care, community nursing or outpatient setting
Recognises priorities when problem solving and identifies deviations from the normal pattern and is able to refer to wider professionals or GPs when appropriate
