Job description
MindSenseAbility (MSA) is a specialist therapeutic educational service based in the New Forest (and surrounds including Hampshire, Isle of Wight, E Dorset) for young people (aged up to 25 years and younger) with Autism Spectrum Disorders and associated conditions. A new opportunity – we are recruiting for our first Occupational Therapy Technician
Occupational Therapist Technician (full or part-time – minimum 3 days)
to join our service and occupational therapy team. The occupational therapy technician (OTT) will contribute to the delivery of high-quality occupational therapy input, particularly in relation to life skills development and approaches that engage hard-to-reach children. The OTT will work with guidance from the OT team to lower the impact of mental health conditions and increase a young person’s ability to emotionally regulate and engage in meaningful occupations. The OT team have a specific focus on Ayres® Sensory Integration assessment and therapy and the OTT will support young people with implementing a range of occupational therapy and sensory-based strategies, working as an integral part of the wider MSA team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams, with occupational therapists and/or in education and care settings with young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated conditions. Experience of working with young people with trauma and attachment difficulties would be helpful. You will work under the supervision of the OT team. You should have access to a car - as the post requires you to undertake community and school visits.
