Job description

We are looking for a Nursing Assistant to join our Cardiology team to assist the nursing staff in maintaining a high standard of care and an organised, clean environment, supporting patient flow through the department and onto other clinical areas. We need your commitment to ensure the patient journey is a positive experience.

You must have an interest in acute medicine and cardiology, preferably with some experience or a good knowledge base of medical conditions and be willing to carry out venepuncture, blood pressure monitoring and base line monitoring; training for this can be supported when facilities are available.

You must have good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to plan and prioritise workloads in this busy and demanding department. You must be a team player who can be flexible with all shift patterns to meet the needs of the service. Having IT skills is also advantageous.
Knowledge of infection control precautions and health and safety would also be positive attributes.

Although the department is a very busy working environment it provides an excellent opportunity for learning new skills and the ability to develop in the role.

This post is 37.5 hours; hours per week are predominantly worked over 3 weekdays/nights with weekend working.

If successful in your application, you will be offered the opportunity to undertake an SVQ2 or SVQ3 (dependent on band) in Health and Social Care, approximately 9 months after taking up post. It is expected that you complete this qualification, which will be fully funded by NHS Fife. Your Line Manager will provide you with more information once you are in post
