The role:
As a nurse tutor, you will be responsible for assessing and identifying training needs of nurses and/or carers. The nurses in Cera are responsible for overseeing complex care packages and will need support to update and maintain their competencies and capabilities as well as supporting them to assist the complex care support workers to maintain and update their training needs too. Cera is also providing a development career pathway for carers across the UK and the nurse tutor will be involved in supporting this.
The nurse tutor will also be involved in Coordinating and delivering specific training that is healthcare related in nature and falls outside of the remit of the Regional trainers, in accordance with current best practices. You will adhere to policy and procedures, agreed standards, legislative requirements and relevant regulations under the direction of the L&D Programme Manager and with input direction and support from the Head of L&D and the Head of Nursing.
The role will be to support the clinical staff and work to ensure continuity and consistency in the training delivered.
The role will suit any nurse that has experience in a complex care setting or has had experience of being in a complex environment such as ICU, neuro or A&E as some of the training will be in the use of vents, NIV, bowel care, stoma care, gastronomy feeding, suction, tracheostomy and nebulisers, etc.
The other expected experience will be in teaching, training or tutoring health care professionals. There would be the expectation that you would have a teaching/assessor qualification, be working towards on or willing to complete one as part of your induction, such as an AET, PTLLS, DTLLS, etc
Responsibilities:
Plan, design, develop, deliver, evaluate and co-ordinate education programmes that are responsive to the needs of nurses and health and social care professionals.
Design and continuously improve and adapt curriculum depending on educational needs.
Teach courses and provide training to registered nurses, carers and other clinical and non- clinical staff.
Incorporate evidence-based research into educational plans, patient treatment plans, and nursing practices.
Serve as a mentor to nurses and Clinical Carers and identify growth opportunities and educational needs for practising nurses.
Teach procedures and care protocols during clinical rotations including the correct and appropriate medical documentation and coordinate with the clinical site to schedule the training sessions with the participants.
